Description

You will lead new product design, development, and qualification for critical electrical power distribution equipment used in AWS data centers, with primary focus on diesel generators, enclosures, and aftertreatment systems. You’ll collaborate with internal partner teams and global suppliers to define requirements, specify components, validate designs through prototype/pre-production/first-of-kind builds, and support commissioning and manufacturing. The role emphasizes reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, with technical direction communicated to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Solicit customer input and define product design requirements

• Lead product design, development, and qualification of diesel generator–focused power distribution equipment

• Specify equipment and components with suppliers to improve supply chain resiliency

• Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC, and applicable federal/state/municipal building codes via appropriate testing

• Validate designs through prototypes, pre-production builds, and first-of-kind builds; run DFx and value engineering; update documentation

• Support field engineering and commissioning teams with installation, operation, and performance testing

• Provide manufacturing support for new products across concurrent, multi-location projects; act as a leader across internal and external teams

Requirements

• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities (data centers, power generation, oil and gas)

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field

• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment

• Experience developing solutions and executing plans on complex projects

• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment/facilities
