Description

You will lead product designs for critical electrical power distribution equipment used in AWS data centers, with a primary focus on backup power generation using diesel generators, including enclosures and aftertreatment systems, plus integration with dependent electrical equipment. You will define design requirements with partner teams, validate designs through prototype and first-of-kind builds using DFx and value engineering, and coordinate testing and validation with field engineering and commissioning teams. The role includes collaboration across internal groups and external partners (suppliers, manufacturers, testing labs, contractors) and may require international travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Solicit customer input and define product design requirements
• Lead new product design, development, and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment
• Specify equipment and components with global suppliers to improve supply chain resiliency
• Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC, and federal/state/municipal requirements and building codes
• Validate designs through prototype, pre-production, and first-of-kind builds (DFx, value engineering) and update documentation
• Support installation testing and operational/performance validation with field engineering and commissioning teams
• Provide support to manufacturing activities for new products across concurrent projects in multiple geographies
• Lead within product development teams and with internal/external stakeholders

Requirements

• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities (data centers, power generation, or oil and gas)
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
• Experience developing solutions and executing plans on complex projects
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities
