Description

Lead the product design, development, and continuous improvement of resilient, cost-effective electrical power distribution equipment used across AWS data centers. Validate designs through prototype and first-of-kind builds, coordinate testing and commissioning, and collaborate globally with suppliers, manufacturers, and field teams to improve reliability, scalability, and cost effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Solicit customer input and define product design requirements.
• Lead new product design, development, and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment (medium voltage switchgear/transformers, low voltage switchgear, generators, busduct, transfer switches, power distribution cabinets, and related infrastructure).
• Develop Capex and Opex budgets, including vendor development costs, prototyping needs, testing, and specialized tooling requirements.
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify electrical equipment and components and improve tier 2–3 supply chain resiliency.
• Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC, and federal/state/municipal requirements and building codes across countries through appropriate testing.
• Validate designs via prototype, pre-production, and first-of-kind builds; perform DFx and value engineering; update design and documentation.
• Support field engineering and commissioning teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance.
• Support manufacturing activities for new products across concurrent multi-geography projects.
• Provide leadership within product development and across internal and external partner teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities (data centers, power generation, or oil and gas).
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience developing solutions and executing plans on complex projects.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
• Ability to collaborate across internal teams and external stakeholders (suppliers, manufacturers, vendors, inspectors, third-party testing labs, contractors).
