Description

You will design, develop, and continuously improve electrical power distribution products and systems that support AWS data centers. The role includes leading product design and qualification for equipment such as medium voltage switchgear and transformers, low voltage switchgear, generators, busduct, transfer switches, and power distribution cabinets. You will drive technical direction with world-class uptime goals, working across teams and suppliers while ensuring global compliance.

Responsibilities

• Gather customer input and define design requirements for electrical product designs

• Lead new product design, development, and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment

• Build Capex and Opex budgets for development, vendor costs, prototyping, testing, and tooling

• Specify equipment and components with global suppliers to improve tier 2–3 supply chain resiliency

• Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC, and applicable federal/state/municipal building codes via appropriate testing

• Validate designs through prototype, pre-production, and first-of-kind builds using DFx and value engineering; update design and documentation

• Coordinate testing and validation with field engineering and commissioning teams for installation, operation, and performance

• Support manufacturing activities for new products across concurrent multi-location projects

• Lead within product development and with internal/external teams supporting data center delivery

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field

• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission-critical facilities (data centers, power generation, or oil and gas)

• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment

• Experience developing solutions and executing plans on complex projects

• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment/facilities

• Preferred: Professional Engineering (PE) or Architectural license

• Preferred: Knowledge of regional building codes and regulations

• Preferred: Experience taking design concepts from exploration through development to deployment/mass production

• Preferred: Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
