Description

In this apprenticeship, you help keep rail traffic running safely and reliably by building and maintaining technical systems in the areas of security, IT/communications (ITK), and automation technology. You will spend significant time outdoors on railway facilities and work with network technology from copper to fiber optics. You’ll also perform small installation/assembly tasks and gain experience by accompanying service technicians on regional assignments.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain technical systems for security, ITK technology, and automation technology (e.g., intrusion and fire alarm systems, video and public-address systems, displays, ticket vending machines, hot-roller localization systems, and various radio techniques)
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions (e.g., station grounds, track areas, and signal boxes)
• Work with network technology from copper to fiber optic
• Perform small mounting/installation (minor assembly) tasks
• Accompany service technicians on assignments in the region and collect practical experience

Requirements

• Successfully completed school education (or will complete soon) with a school-leaving certificate recognized in Germany
• German language skills at least B2
• Interest in variety in daily work
• Strong hands-on/manual skills
• Willingness to work independently and outdoors
• Teamwork and reliability
