How You Will Make an Impact:

As a Yard Hostler, you will inspect trailers and complete their pre-trips to ensure they meet DOT compliance. You will move and hook up trailers as needed and communicate all trailer moves and trailer numbers with operations management. This role is part of the Last Mile and Logistics department and will cross train and assist Last Mile and Loadout when necessary, including occasional independent work and travel to a Last Mile wellsite.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Perform highly physical work at a consistent rate
  • Maintain yard awareness and make safe yard moves
  • Move loaded and unloaded trailers in the yard
  • Load sand into trailers using a portable conveyor system
  • Weigh trailers using a drive-over scale
  • Hook up trailers in single, double, and triple configurations
  • Print BOLs
  • Track paperwork for inbound and outbound trucks
  • Assist with trailer inspections
  • Abide by and enforce company policies and procedures
  • Complete tasks and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner
  • Promote teamwork and cooperative effort
  • Work well independently
  • Maintain organization of the depot
  • Operate the yard mule
  • Travel within the Permian Basin and work at a Last Mile wellsite when needed
  • Cross train in Loadout and obtain MSHA requirements
  • Basic understanding of planning trucking routes

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to read and understand English and apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screenings and background check
  • Valid driver’s license and clean MVR
