Description

You will act as a trusted technical advisor shaping next-generation payment experiences across mobile apps, payment terminals, and distributed backend services. In a highly hands-on leadership role, you will architect unified shopper journeys, drive long-term technical strategy, and solve complex issues spanning reliability, performance, security, and device compatibility at global scale. You will also mentor engineers and raise the bar on observability, testing, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Build next-generation payment experiences that go beyond traditional terminal/mobile boundaries

• Define and drive long-term technical strategy for complex payment experiences across mobile apps, SDKs, terminals, and backend systems

• Lead resolution of challenging issues in reliability, performance, security, payment flows, and device compatibility

• Partner with Product, Design, Legal, and other stakeholders to translate goals into executable plans

• Establish architectural boundaries, APIs, and integration patterns enabling independent cross-team delivery

• Mentor engineers across levels and tailor coaching for independent problem-solving

• Improve engineering excellence in observability, testing, and operations; collaborate with external technology partners (OS providers, hardware vendors)

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in modern production environments at Staff-level scope

• 5+ years hands-on mobile development experience with either Android (Kotlin) OR iOS (Swift), with shipped and owned production mobile code

• Willingness and ability to cross-train onto the other mobile platform

• Deep understanding of mobile architecture, SDK design, concurrency, performance, and large-scale distributed systems

• Experience building and maintaining merchant- or consumer-facing SDKs

• Proven ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders across time zones without formal authority

• Strong ownership mindset to identify critical problems and drive solutions to completion

Benefits

• Annual base salary range: $235–$317k plus RSUs
