Description

Own end-to-end features for the cardholder journey—from ordering to every purchase—across customer-facing web/mobile experiences and the backend services behind them. Set year-long technical strategy, collaborate with product/design/analytics, and drive operational excellence to improve reliability and on-call health. Apply an AI-first approach to ship improvements faster while maintaining a strong security and quality bar.

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy for the team over a year-long horizon and align it with business-impacting projects
• Collaborate across product development to ensure technical sustainability, manage risks, and make trade-offs explicit
• Act as a force-multiplier by defining and advocating for technical solutions and operational processes
• Own on-call operations and availability: monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting
• Foster quality and ownership: set code review and design standards and advocate beyond the team
• Help develop talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example

Requirements

• 8+ years designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin
• Extensive experience building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes
• 8+ years total experience as a software engineer
• Proficiency with declarative UI frameworks: React Native, React, or Vue
• Proven ability to design, develop, and launch systems at scale
• Experience delivering major features/system components or deprecating functionality via technical and execution plans; writes high-quality, readable code
• Comfort working in ambiguity; reason from low-level code to large-system architecture
• AI-first mindset; identifies trends and safely applies new technologies
• Demonstrated ability to gather and iterate on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
