Quick Facts

  • Role: Staff Platform Engineer (Platform)

Description

Own the technical direction and standards for an evolving, AI-first platform that enables secure, scalable application delivery at velocity. Define a 12–18 month roadmap with trade-offs and alignment, and create architectural patterns and security/reliability standards that are adopted broadly across engineering. Drive outcomes across multiple teams—improving self-service and reducing platform bottlenecks, misconfiguration, security exceptions, and operational incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a coherent 12–18 month technical direction for the platform with milestones and leadership alignment

  • Enable broad adoption of platform capabilities through strong design and documentation, reducing platform bottlenecks for provisioning and deployment

  • Define architectural patterns and standards for autonomous and AI-augmented workflows so engineers can build without constant Platform involvement

  • Embed security, reliability, and operational excellence standards into team delivery, reducing misconfiguration, security exceptions, and incidents

  • Act as a technical authority and increase other senior engineers’ platform thinking through challenge and mentorship

Requirements

  • Defined platform architecture, standards, and patterns over a multi-quarter horizon; made high-judgement foundational trade-offs

  • Navigated disagreement across senior engineers/architects/stakeholders to reach durable technical decisions

  • Owned outcomes spanning multiple teams; designed enablement approaches that multiply others’ effectiveness

  • Defined how AI and automation are embedded architecturally to make AI-augmented workflows the default

  • Understood adoption dynamics, internal customer needs, and systemic barriers to self-service; shaped roadmap using usage data and feedback

  • Identified architectural, security, and operational risks before incidents; influenced reliability/security/cost thinking beyond Platform

  • Connected platform decisions to business outcomes and communicated strategy to senior leadership

  • Actively developed senior engineers through technical challenge, honest feedback, and exposure to harder problems

Benefits

  • 25 days of non-working + Polish bank holidays (B2B)

  • £5,000 GBP budget for Learning & Development

  • Mental Health Support and Therapy via Spectrum Life

  • Optional Private Healthcare via Luxmed + Multisport (covered by self as B2B Contractor)

  • Top-spec laptop (MacOS or Windows)

  • Contract of Employment (UoP) option: £5,000 GBP L&D budget, 26 days holiday + Polish bank holidays, pension, 10 days sick pay at 100% salary

  • Monthly wellbeing allowance via Juno; Private Healthcare Insurance via Luxmed; Multisport (Classic); top-spec work equipment
