Description

Provides clinical and clerical support to providers and the patient care team by performing back-office and patient-related tasks that help deliver high-quality patient care. Supports smooth patient and departmental workflow and assists the care team in implementing the medical plan of care under clinician direction.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of back-office and patient-related support tasks for the patient care team
• Prepare patients for exams and assist with delivering the medical plan of care
• Support smooth patient and workflow within the department
• Communicate with patients, families/support groups, and other providers regarding sensitive information

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program; diploma must be presented within 90 days
• Completion of Medical Assistant externship (160 hours)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider certification
• 1 year of recent relevant experience
• Competency in basic medical assisting skills: taking vital signs, preparing patients for exam, administering injections
• Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
• Ability to interpret data and instructions from written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within SOPs/policies
• Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office Suite) and familiarity with EHR
