Description

Provide clinical and clerical support to pediatric providers and patient care teams by performing back-office and patient-related tasks that help deliver high-quality care. Support smooth patient and workflow within the department and assist the care team in implementing the medical plan of care under direction of a clinician. Use patient interaction and technical competence to promote patient and family cooperation.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of clinical and clerical support tasks in a back-office and patient-facing setting
• Take vital signs and prepare patients for examination
• Assist with administering injections as part of basic medical assisting duties
• Interpret data and follow written, oral, diagram, or scheduled instructions
• Communicate sensitively and professionally with patients and diverse audiences
• Prioritize work and complete tasks within standardized procedures
• Support independent work and coordinated team tasks in a busy environment
• Use computer applications and electronic health records to support workflow

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program (diploma within 90 days)
• Medical Assistant externship completion (160 hours) verified on the MA school website
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support for healthcare providers)
• 1 year of recent relevant experience
• Competency in basic medical assisting skills (vital signs, patient preparation, injections)
