Role Description

Provides clinical and clerical support to providers and members of the patient care team by performing back-office and patient-related tasks that support delivery of high-quality patient care. Helps ensure smooth patient and department workflow and assists the care team in implementing the medical plan of care. Performs all duties under the direction of a clinician.

Responsibilities

• Support patient workflow in the department
• Prepare patients for exam
• Take vital signs
• Administer injections (as validated/competent in basic medical assisting skills)
• Interpret and follow data/instructions provided in multiple formats
• Communicate clearly and professionally about sensitive information to diverse audiences
• Apply time management and organizational skills to prioritize assignments within operating procedures
• Use computer applications and EHR systems to support departmental processes

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program; present diploma within 90 days
• Completion of a Medical Assistant externship (160 hours), verified on the MA school website
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider certification
• 1 year of recent relevant experience
