Description

Design and build trusted backend services using Java and Spring Boot, leveraging Kafka for event-driven communication and Kubernetes for container orchestration. Manage data across distributed and relational platforms such as Cassandra, CockroachDB, Oracle, and PostgreSQL, while producing production-ready, secure code. Use AI coding assist tools responsibly to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Execute end-to-end software design, development, testing, and technical troubleshooting beyond routine approaches

• Write secure, high-quality production code and maintain synchronous algorithms for backend services

• Apply enterprise-authorized AI coding tools (generation/refactoring, unit tests, documentation) and validate outputs via peer review and automated testing

• Produce architecture and design artifacts and ensure design constraints are met

• Design and implement event-driven microservices using Kafka for real-time workflows

• Manage and optimize data access patterns across distributed (Cassandra, CockroachDB) and relational (Oracle, PostgreSQL) databases

• Analyze large datasets and develop visualizations/reporting to support continuous improvement

• Identify data-driven issues and improve coding hygiene and system architecture

• Deploy and manage containerized backend services on Kubernetes for availability, scalability, and operational resilience

Requirements

• 3+ years applied experience; formal training or certification in software engineering concepts

• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability

• Java and Spring Boot experience in large corporate environments

• Event-driven architecture and Kafka experience, including building and operating high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant Kafka event pipelines

• Production experience deploying and managing Kubernetes-based containerized applications

• Backend service experience for digital communication platforms (messaging, notifications, customer engagement)

• Responsible AI use in engineering workflows (data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, resiliency and security expectations)

• Proficiency with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Codex) across the SDLC

• Experience designing agentic systems with robust guardrails for safe, reliable, predictable behavior
