Description

Develop and maintain Java-based applications that support critical business processes, especially in public services. You will design new features, modernize existing systems, and integrate components running in Kubernetes environments while meeting performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with architects, product teams, and domain experts and contribute to CI/CD and agile delivery, with optional AI-assisted engineering support.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement backend applications using Java and modern JVM technologies
• Apply engineering best practices (Clean Code, SOLID, TDD, DDD)
• Integrate applications with components deployed in Kubernetes environments
• Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) and perform code reviews for quality, security, and prompt patterns
• Participate in architecture design and code reviews
• Contribute to agile, international team practices and shared best practices
• Support and mentor less-experienced engineers

Requirements

• Technical degree and solid foundations in software engineering
• 5+ years of experience with Java/JVM-based technologies
• Experience with Spring, Hibernate, Maven, Git, Kubernetes, and Angular or React
• Ability to write unit tests (JUnit, Mockito) and work with microservice-oriented architectures
• Experience with relational (MS SQL/Oracle) or non-relational (Redis/MongoDB) databases
• Practical experience with CI/CD and version control systems
• Communicative English and German (min. B1)
• Hands-on experience in AI/GenAI, including practical use of LLMs, RAG patterns, and agentic workflows in production or near-production environments
• Nice to have: tech lead experience
