Description

Design and implement backend microservices and APIs within established architectural patterns, taking ownership from code and tests through production deployment and operations. Support team engineering practices such as code reviews, improving test coverage, and identifying gaps in pipeline and operational readiness. Mentor junior engineers and apply spec-driven development with AI-assisted tooling as part of the workflow.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend microservices and APIs

• Own services end-to-end: code, tests, production shipping, and operational ownership

• Participate in code reviews and improve test coverage and pipeline/operational readiness

• Mentor junior/associate engineers via reviews, pair work, and feedback

• Use spec-driven development and AI-assisted tooling

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems

• Proven ability to own services end-to-end (design through deployment and operation)

• Database experience: writing and tuning queries, understanding indexing, choosing storage patterns

• Hands-on Java and Spring Boot for backend microservices, including RESTful API design and contract-first OpenAPI development

• AWS EKS experience for packaging, deploying, and operating containerized services

• Event-driven architecture experience with Kafka or similar messaging platforms

• Delivery pipeline proficiency: source control, CI/CD, containerization, and automated testing

• Observability experience: structured logs, distributed traces, dashboards for production issue diagnosis
