Description

Lead hands-on development of Java (8–21) and Kotlin Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs across the order and trade lifecycle. Build Kafka/Kafka Streams event-driven workflows, deploy containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes on GCP via CI/CD, and manage data using PostgreSQL. Own L3 production support and help evolve legacy systems into modular, cloud-native, event-driven architectures.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership, guiding engineers on design, implementation, and engineering standards; mentor team members

• Design, build, and enhance Java (8–21) and Kotlin Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs for order capture, validation, routing, execution, allocation, and booking

• Build event-driven flows with Kafka and Kafka Streams for reliable real-time order and trade processing

• Deliver containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes on GCP and manage data on PostgreSQL

• Apply engineering best practices: clean code, CI/CD, secure SDLC, and automated testing with JUnit and Mockito

• Own L3 production support, including performance profiling, incident resolution, and root cause analysis to keep low-latency/high-throughput trading services stable and resilient

• Use GenAI-assisted development (e.g., Claude Code) to improve productivity and code quality

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and engineers; lead code reviews, testing strategies, and complex issue troubleshooting

• Drive modernization by evolving legacy systems toward modular, cloud-native, event-driven architectures on GCP

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on Java software engineering experience in large-scale or complex environments; technical lead experience

• Strong hands-on Java 8, 11, 17, and 21 experience, including migrating applications across Java versions

• Spring Boot microservices and REST API design experience; Kotlin experience

• Event-driven architecture experience with Kafka and Kafka Streams

• Relational data store experience with PostgreSQL

• Containerized delivery experience with Docker and Kubernetes on GCP using CI/CD with automated testing

• L3 production support experience: performance profiling, incident resolution, and root cause analysis

• GenAI-assisted development experience using tools such as Claude Code

• Technical leadership experience mentoring engineers while contributing hands-on

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent experience)

• Claude Certified Architect – Foundations certification
