Description

Provide routine patient care and rehabilitation for nursing home residents through assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Maintain accurate patient records, document histories and treatment plans, and order and interpret diagnostic tests to guide care. Coordinate care with appropriate specialists and refer patients when needed.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat patients

• Ensure fulfillment of the organization’s commitment to quality care

• Diagnose and treat a variety of diseases in general practice

• Examine patients using medical instruments and equipment

• Collect, record, and maintain accurate patient information

• Document past medical, family, and social history; review of systems; examinations; medications; allergies; assessment and plan

• Order or execute tests, analyses, and diagnostic imaging

• Analyze reports and findings to diagnose patient conditions

• Administer and prescribe treatments

• Order lab and imaging tests to support an immediate treatment plan

• Vaccinate patients to protect against communicable diseases

• Advise patients on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention

• Consult with medical specialists when necessary and refer patients within the network

Requirements

• Medical degree conferred by an accredited college or university

• New York State licensure; Board Eligible and/or Certified

• Demonstrated clinical excellence

• Nursing home experience strongly preferred
