Description

Provide infectious disease consultations for patients in a nursing home division and during outpatient visits. You will review medical records, evaluate patients, order and analyze tests, and collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to develop and monitor treatment plans. You will also document clinical progress and educate patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Review patient medical records (e.g., X-rays, blood work, and other lab tests)

• Evaluate patients through conversations, interviews, and observations

• Administer patient tests or request testing/lab work; analyze results

• Collaborate with patient physicians and other medical staff to determine treatment

• Set patient goals and discuss treatment plans; establish timelines and medical needs

• Analyze and select the best medications or therapies

• Prescribe medications and monitor patient intake

• Document patient records and progress, including symptoms, medications, and treatments

• Counsel patients and provide emotional tools and methods for recovery

• Educate patients, families, and relevant parties on progress, treatment, and future goals

Requirements

• MD or Doctor

• Board Certified or Board Eligible

• Successful completion of an approved residency training program

• Active license

• Current New York State Medical Practitioner License

• Current DEA registration

• Current Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing

• Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus (not required)
