Description

You will diagnose complex neurological problems using patient history, physical/neurological exams, and neurological testing. You will order and interpret diagnostic studies (including neuroimaging), counsel patients on neurological disorders, and develop and adapt treatment plans. You will also prescribe and/or administer treatment and medication and provide supportive care and home-care instructions.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose complex medical problems through history, examination, and neurological tests
• Counsel patients on neurological disorders and their background
• Perform physical and neurological examinations
• Order neurological tests and interpret neuroimaging results
• Order diagnostic tests including blood tests and spinal fluid (CSF) tests; order imaging such as MRIs
• Prescribe and/or administer treatment and medication
• Develop, manage, and adapt treatment plans based on patient progress
• Order supportive care services
• Communicate treatment plans and home care instructions

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Board certified or board eligible
• Accreditation with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
• Specialty training in an accredited neurology residency program
• Active license
• Current New York State medical practitioner license
• Current DEA and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registrations for prescription writing
• Urgent care or Emergency Department experience
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
