Description

Provide outpatient neurologic care by diagnosing complex conditions, performing neurological exams and tests, and developing personalized treatment plans. The role includes ordering and interpreting neurodiagnostic studies (including neuroimaging), counseling patients, and prescribing or administering treatments.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical and neurological examinations for patients with neurologic disorders.
• Conduct neurological testing and use results to diagnose conditions.
• Counsel patients on neurologic disorders and their background.
• Order neurological tests and interpret results of neuroimaging studies.
• Order diagnostic tests such as blood tests and spinal fluid tests, and imaging tests such as MRIs.
• Prescribe and/or administer treatment and medication.
• Develop treatment plans and adapt them based on patient progress.
• Order supportive care services.
• Communicate treatment plans and home care instructions to patients.

Requirements

• MD or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible
• ABPN accreditation
• Specialty training in an accredited neurology residency program
• Active medical license
• Current New York State medical practitioner license
• Current DEA and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing
• Urgent Care or Emergency Department experience
