Description

Provide compassionate outpatient neurological care, including evaluating complex medical problems, performing neurological exams, and diagnosing neurological disorders. Order and interpret neurological tests and neuroimaging (e.g., MRIs), develop treatment plans, and manage medications based on patient progress. Counsel patients on disorders and communicate home care instructions and supportive services.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose complex medical problems using patient history, exams, and neurological testing
• Counsel patients on neurological disorders and background
• Order neurological tests and interpret results of neuroimaging studies
• Prescribe and/or administer treatment and medication
• Order supportive care services
• Perform physical and neurological examinations
• Order diagnostic tests including blood tests, spinal fluid tests, and imaging tests such as MRIs
• Diagnose conditions based on physical and cognitive exams and test results
• Develop and adapt treatment plans over time
• Communicate treatment plans and home care instructions

Requirements

• MD or Doctor of Osteopathy
• Board Certified or Board Eligible
• Accreditation with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
• Specialty training in an accredited neurology residency program
• Active license
• Current New York State Medical Practitioner License
• Current DEA and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing
• Urgent Care or Emergency Department experience
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
