Description

Provide psychiatric patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plans in accordance with applicable regulations and protocols. You will collaborate with the staff psychiatrist and care team, delivering education, counseling, and emotional support. You may also provide primary medical care services as indicated, along with follow-up and referrals.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans
• Collaborate with the staff psychiatrist, nursing staff, technical personnel, and counselors
• Provide psychiatric health services, education, counseling, and emotional support
• Refer patients for inpatient care as necessary
• Issue medication prescriptions in line with treatment guidelines
• Order laboratory tests and interpret/explain results to patients
• Educate patients on medications, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes
• Communicate with patients and support ongoing follow-up
• Provide primary medical care services as indicated (as permitted by regulations and protocols)

Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing with a Psychiatric/Mental Health emphasis from an accredited college or university
• 3 years of experience related to the duties described
• Licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the state of New York
