Role Description

Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Develop individualized treatment plans, prescribe medications, and monitor treatment outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients through conversations, interviews, and observation

• Administer or request patient tests/lab work; analyze data and results

• Diagnose psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders

• Collaborate with patients’ physicians and other medical staff to determine treatment

• Set patient goals and discuss treatment plans

• Establish timelines, tasks, and patient medical needs

• Select medications or therapies to support patient goals

• Prescribe medications and monitor patient intake

• Document patient records and progress (symptoms, medications, and treatments)

• Counsel patients and respond to reactions to treatment

• Provide emotional tools and methods for recovery

• Educate patients and relevant support persons on progress, treatment, and future goals

Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited U.S. medical school

• Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist

• Successful completion of an approved psychiatry residency program

• Active license

• Current New York State medical practitioner license

• Current DEA and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing

• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus (not required)
