Role Description

Provide psychiatric health services through patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning, along with counseling, education, and follow-up, in collaboration with the staff psychiatrist and the care team.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans per regulations, statutes, and clinical protocols

• Collaborate with the staff psychiatrist, nursing staff, technical personnel, and counselors

• Provide psychiatric health services, including education, counseling, and emotional support

• Refer patients for inpatient care as necessary, in collaboration with the staff psychiatrist

• Prescribe psychiatric medications according to treatment guidelines

• Order laboratory tests and interpret results, explaining findings to patients

• Educate patients on medications, including risks, benefits, and reasonable outcome expectations

• Communicate with patients and provide follow-up as needed

• May provide primary medical care when indicated, following applicable statutes, regulations, and protocols

• Perform related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Spanish speaking

• Licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in New York

• M.S.N. with Psychiatric/Mental Health emphasis from an accredited college or university

• 3 years of experience related to the described duties
