Description

You will design, build, and scale LLM-based systems that process billions of unstructured data points daily to extract precise information and surface insights for high-stakes insurer decisions. This Staff engineer role sits at the intersection of AI and backend engineering, with major ownership over architecture and technical direction under ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Design backend systems and make architectural calls under uncertainty

• Build and scale LLM-based processing pipelines for large-scale, unstructured data

• Take end-to-end ownership of outcomes with minimal oversight

• Debug, improve reliability, and iterate based on measurable results

• Collaborate proactively with stakeholders and keep them informed of progress and blockers

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience

• Strong system design, debugging, and problem-solving fundamentals

• Proven experience with LLMs in production and deploying at scale

• AWS and serverless experience (Lambda, EC2)

• Experience with asynchronous workflows and cloud environments

• Python proficiency (primary stack)

• Relational database experience, ideally PostgreSQL

• Comfortable experimenting (test, measure, iterate)

• Proactive communication and strong ownership

• Bonus: document pipeline experience and processing large volumes of data
