Description

You will join a team building a modern internal platform that streamlines network service management and service delivery. The platform exposes APIs and uses Temporal workflows to orchestrate complex asynchronous processes across distributed systems, supported by observability tooling. You will also help develop an AI-first engineering environment where AI tools are used throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend systems and services

• Build and maintain Temporal workflows and activities for complex business processes

• Create resilient solutions for long-running, asynchronous processing

• Work with distributed systems concepts including retries, failures, timeouts, and inter-service communication

• Design and optimize REST APIs and system integrations

• Use AI coding tools throughout the lifecycle: understanding requirements, coding, testing, refactoring, and debugging

• Produce codebases and documentation that are easy for both engineers and AI tools to understand

• Create specifications, prompts, and reusable AI workflows/skills/practices

• Experiment with AI models and tools to select the best approach for engineering tasks

• Troubleshoot complex issues across service boundaries

Requirements

• 6+ years of commercial experience in software engineering/backend development

• Hands-on experience with Temporal (or similar workflow orchestration such as Cadence)

• Strong understanding of workflow orchestration, asynchronous processing, and long-running processes

• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor (or similar)

• Ability to provide examples of AI improving your development workflow and productivity

• Understanding of AI model capabilities/limitations and appropriate use cases

• Strong backend engineering fundamentals

• Experience with REST API design and implementation

• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and asynchronous architectures

• Strong debugging/problem-solving across distributed environments

• Experience with Docker and container-based development workflows

• Ability to work independently and collaborate in a cross-functional team
