Description

Join as a Staff Software Engineer (Python) to take loosely defined business and technical problems and turn them into production systems. You will design architecture, write primarily Python backend code, and support what you ship across multiple projects within one product area. The role emphasizes independent ownership, frequent delivery cycles, direct collaboration with stakeholders, and iteration after release using technical and product/business metrics.

Responsibilities

• Take unclear problems from initial idea to production solutions
• Clarify requirements and agree on technical plans with business and product stakeholders
• Design solution architecture and make key technical decisions
• Implement and ship backend code, primarily in Python
• Define scope, priorities, and trade-offs
• Develop products that keep Linux infrastructure secure and supported, including systems beyond standard lifecycle
• Move between projects within your product area and act as primary engineer when needed
• Monitor solutions after release and iterate using technical, product, and business metrics
• Debug, prototype, and review code as part of daily engineering work
• Use AI-assisted tools throughout development and validate AI-generated output before shipping

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience at Staff, Principal, or Tech Lead level
• Strong, recent hands-on backend development experience
• Proficiency in Python (or another backend/systems language such as Go, Java, Rust, or C++) with readiness to make Python primary
• Practical Linux knowledge
• Track record taking projects/features from idea and requirements through release and production support
• Experience communicating with business/product stakeholders to turn ambiguous ideas into technical plans
• Strong architecture and technical decision-making with personal implementation
• Experience defining scope, priorities, and trade-offs
• Experience monitoring solutions after release and iterating based on metrics
• Experience in both fast-moving startup environments and larger established companies
• Active use of AI-assisted development tools in daily workflow with validation approach
• Excellent English communication skills
