Description

Provide onsite Smart Hands support for physical datacenter and site infrastructure activities. Perform rack-and-stack, cabling/patching, hardware replacement, physical diagnostics, and coordinate with remote engineering teams for troubleshooting and execution. Support transition/takeover information gathering and documentation to build accurate site/datacenter inventories and operational readiness materials.

Role Responsibilities

• Deliver datacenter Smart Hands support (hands and eyes) for network, server, storage, and backup infrastructure

• Perform rack-and-stack of servers, storage, network, and related hardware components

• Handle cabling, patching, labeling, hardware installation/de-installation/relocation

• Support power cycling, device reboots, health checks, and LED/console diagnostics

• Replace field-replaceable units (FRUs) including power supplies, fan trays, line cards, supervisor modules, interface cards, SSDs, and memory modules

• Install and replace transceiver modules (SFP, SFP+, QSFP)

• Verify hardware serial numbers, model numbers, and asset tags; confirm RU allocation; trace and verify cabling

• Install rack rails, mounting brackets, and blanking panels; connect via console cables when required

• Verify interface status, link LEDs, and physical connectivity under NOC guidance; support planned maintenance and migrations

Transition & Incumbent Coordination

• Gather and validate detailed information across sites, server rooms, and datacenters with incumbent teams

• Collect location details, rack layouts and floor plans, device inventory and asset details, power connections and redundancy, and network patching/cabling information

• Document ISP/WAN/LAN connectivity, access procedures and security requirements, operational processes and support contacts, and hardware lifecycle/warranty information

• Build a site-wise/datacenter-wise transition repository, verify assets against documentation, and identify mismatches, gaps, and risks

• Participate in workshops, site surveys, incumbent handover sessions, due diligence, and discovery activities

Operations & Governance

• Maintain accurate records for assets, cabling, rack positioning, hardware movement, readiness, and access controls

• Ensure all work follows datacenter safety, security, and change management procedures

• Support incident, service request, IMACD (Install/Move/Add/Change/Dispose), and break-fix activities

• Coordinate with OEM/vendor engineers for onsite hardware support and escort assistance when required

• Create and maintain site documentation, checklists, SOPs, handover notes, and audit-ready records

Requirements

• 3+ to 7+ years of relevant experience in Smart Hands/Datacenter Support/Field Infrastructure Support

• Hands-on experience in physical datacenter/site support and Smart Hands operations

• Strong understanding of rack-and-stack, structured cabling/patching, and hardware handling

• Experience verifying hardware inventory/assets (serial numbers, model numbers, asset tags)

• Ability to gather, validate, and document infrastructure details from incumbent teams

• Familiarity with hardware labeling, rack documentation, and physical asset management

• Basic understanding of network devices, servers, storage systems, UPS/power layouts, and connectivity

• Knowledge of datacenter access, safety, security, and change procedures

• Good communication skills for coordinating with remote teams, vendors, and stakeholders

• Ability to travel to sites/datacenters as required
