Description

Own the technical vision and strategy for a domain within the service mesh and edge tier, taking it from design through implementation, rollout, and long-term health. Lead complex infrastructure design with strong tradeoff judgment, establish best practices for operational excellence, and solve ambiguous cross-cutting problems. Coach engineers and partner with adjacent teams to deliver reliable, scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Own technical vision and domain strategy for a slice of the service mesh and edge tier

• Lead technical design of complex systems, weighing tradeoffs and long-term implications

• Establish and drive engineering best practices and operational excellence

• Tackle ambiguous, cross-cutting problems and identify productivity improvements

• Orchestrate work by sequencing dependencies, surfacing risks early, and adapting plans

• Partner with adjacent teams and stakeholders when domain direction impacts their systems

• Coach engineers with actionable feedback through reviews and mentorship

Requirements

• End-to-end experience owning the technical vision for a system/domain in a high-traffic production environment, with accountability for long-term health

• Deep production systems experience in Go, with strong fluency in underlying patterns (controllers, reconcilers, event loops, concurrency models)

• Experience operating large-scale distributed systems in production on Kubernetes, Nomad, ECS, or comparable orchestration

• Track record of establishing engineering best practices and raising the team bar

• Track record of coaching engineers to work more independently

• Ability to work effectively with peers and stakeholders beyond the immediate team

• Ability to ramp quickly into unfamiliar technical domains and deliver within months
