Description

You will build resilient, secure, and scalable backend services, APIs, integrations, and event-driven cloud capabilities that make AI features dependable and usable at scale. This staff role includes end-to-end ownership of high-leverage initiatives and contributing to Unity Editor extensions when needed. You’ll partner with server-engineering teams to reduce developer workflow friction, raise engineering quality, and act as a technical multiplier.

Responsibilities

• Shape and implement technical direction with senior engineering staff

• Partner with server-engineering teams to identify developer-experience needs and friction

• Lead ambiguous, high-leverage initiatives from discovery and architecture through delivery and ongoing improvement

• Design and operate event-driven cloud services for automation, workspace management, integrations, and AI-agent execution

• Establish technical patterns for access control, observability, auditability, privacy, and safe AI usage

• Use system design, operational data, and user feedback to make trade-offs across reliability, delivery pace, and maintainability

• Raise the bar for engineering quality through architecture reviews, standards, coaching, and constructive challenge

• Unblock teams and grow other engineers beyond the Developer Experience team

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing, building, and operating production server-side systems (Go, C#, Python, or comparable)

• Proven track record delivering complex distributed high-availability systems with cross-team technical partnership

• Hands-on cloud-native experience on AWS: containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and secure service-to-service communication

• Expertise in multiple areas such as asynchronous messaging, APIs, databases, caching, observability, performance engineering, reliability, and incident response

• Ability to choose simple, durable solutions and clearly communicate trade-offs

• Experience partnering with product, design, operations, and engineering to discover needs and deliver internal platform capabilities

• Willingness to work beyond a strict server boundary, including supporting Unity tools when it best solves the user problem

• Collaborative style that helps colleagues learn, make decisions, and succeed

• Experience with LLM-based products, AI agents, secure automation, or sandboxed execution environments

• Sound judgement about safety, security, and user trust for AI-enabled products/workflows (home use acceptable)

• EU work authorization with no visa/work permit sponsorship; relocation to an employing entity required
