Description

You will co-create the strategic direction of the Tech Superdomain and set priorities alongside other Engineering Heads and CPTO, staying close to the code and technical details. The role combines leadership and hands-on involvement—discussing architecture, databases, and Linux infrastructure, using operational data to drive decisions, and ensuring technical choices make sense for product and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead Infrastructure, SRE, Purple, and Security teams; be the key support and first escalation point

• Define strategic direction and engineering prioritization together with other Heads of Engineering

• Build and shape team composition via recruiting, targeted hiring, and helping form teams as new needs arise

• Mentor team leads (both technical growth and management growth)

• Ensure technical decisions are sound developmentally, product-wise, and business-wise

• Stay actively involved in technical topics (database debugging, Linux servers, infrastructure security)

• Help teams decide when to move fast, slow down, or verify solutions thoroughly

• Continuously improve engineering practices, processes, and metrics

Requirements

• Experience in a similar senior role (Head of Engineering, CTO, or equivalent)

• Deep, real-world engagement with systems (able to “get hands dirty”)

• Strong ability to discuss architecture, databases, and technical decisions with developers

• Linux servers and infrastructure management expertise

• Familiarity with SRE principles (reliability as more than a buzzword)

• Confidence and sound decision-making; collaborative mindset and ability to advocate and accept better arguments

• Ability to read and use operational data (graphs, logs, metrics) for optimization and root-cause analysis

• Natural partnership with product and design (priorities, impact, long-term sustainability)

• Ability to reduce speed when needed by naming risks and aligning expectations

• Desire to drive real technological direction, not just manage backlog
