The Business Applications Analyst serves as a key techno-functional lead for the Hollow Metal Door Strategic Business Unit (SBU), responsible for the overall health, optimization, and integration of core business applications across multiple manufacturing plants and distribution centers.

The role defines, analyzes, develops, tests, and maintains ERP, custom, and third-party software applications, including requirements gathering, design, documentation, and modifying software specifications throughout the order life cycle.

Description

Hands-on problem solver bridging shop-floor operations and back-office technology. The role includes maintaining ERP systems, driving data analytics, managing system integrations, and leveraging emerging AI tools to improve operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Interact and partner with key business partners to drive business initiatives and optimize system usage and best practices
  • Provide tier-2 & 3 techno-functional support for key ERP systems and related manufacturing applications across the SBU
  • Define practical business system solutions to drive standardization within business work streams
  • Ensure the “digital thread” from order entry to shop-floor completion is seamless
  • Drive IT deliverables in SBU long range initiatives
  • Develop and maintain advanced reports and dashboards using Power BI and SQL; translate manufacturing data into actionable insights for Plant Managers and SBU leadership
  • Identify and implement AI-driven use cases (predictive maintenance alerts, automated data validation, intelligent demand forecasting)
  • Assist in scoping and executing large technology projects, including facility expansions, system upgrades, and M&A integrations
  • Own functional tactical planning for upgrades and releases with software vendors
  • Lead Unit Testing (UT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system changes
  • Create and maintain high-quality functional design documents (FDDs) and technical specifications
  • Support continuous improvements events with a combined view of business and system processes
  • Provide application training and assist with general troubleshooting support
  • Maintain documentation of recommended business system configurations, process flows, and work instructions for key business processes
  • Partner with matrixed IT and business teams on changes, general support, and roll outs
  • Use supply chain principles and general manufacturing knowledge to drive SBU initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Information Technology or related field
  • 5+ years of proven experience working within large manufacturing or distribution operations
  • 10+ years of experience working with, supporting, and/or implementing an Enterprise level ERP
  • Applicable techno-functional knowledge of AS400 / iSeries platform (big plus)
  • Skilled in query tools (Query/400, SQL/400) to pull reports and analyze data
  • In-depth knowledge of business functions with heavy emphasis in Order Management, Manufacturing, Warehouse Management, and Supply Chain processes
  • Experience with at least 3 ERP module areas (Order Management and Product Configurators, Master Planning, Production Control, Transportation Management, Warehouse/Inventory Management, Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting major and minor ERP upgrades and/or implementations
  • Experience developing comprehensive business requirements, functional design documents, completing impact assessments, and contributing to business cases
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in person and remotely
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, including formal presentations
  • Analytical problem-solving approach; willingness to learn; sense of urgency and results orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Solid understanding of data integrity and audit / SOX compliance procedures
  • Experience working with and building/training AI agents to improve business processes and productivity
  • Basic familiarity with relational databases (MS-SQL, DB2/400) and on-prem and cloud concepts
  • Understanding of integrations (APIs, middleware platforms) connecting business systems
  • Experience and understanding of Cyber Security best practices in Manufacturing Operations
  • Comfortable using SQL, Power BI, and other tools for ad hoc analysis
  • Comfortable using Project Management tools and Azure DevOps for planning and documentation
  • Ability to lead and manage small/mid range projects at the sites
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; no employment visa sponsorship intended
  • Travel required up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Macpac / Infor XA (Mapics)
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations ERP
  • Experience developing ERP product configurator processes
  • Experience in Hollow Metal Door or Steel Fabrication industry, including knowledge of products and custom configurations
