Java Developer (AWS)

Role Description

  • Apply technical experience to develop high-quality applications and systems in line with agreed requirements, timelines, and group and local standards.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary Agile product team to design and build distributed systems using modern technology stacks.
  • Define and govern quality standards and maintain expert knowledge of required technology across multiple platforms.
  • Build decision-making and problem-solving capability within the technology area across multiple platforms.
  • Produce efficient code that meets the definition of done for business requirements, considering technical dependencies and non-functional requirements.
  • Conduct unit testing to ensure programs and software applications produce the desired results and that instructions are correct.
  • Challenge code, design, and implementation to ensure the highest quality and alignment with industry standards.
  • Help establish the level of automated test coverage required for the project.
  • Maintain clear communication and productive relationships with development team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Senior experience in Java and Spring Boot, with Kubernetes experience.
  • Practical AWS cloud experience.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools, GitHub, Jira, Jenkins shared libraries, Maven, and Groovy.
  • Strong knowledge of API design standards, patterns, and best practices, including Swagger, OpenAPI 3.0, REST, JSON, and microservices.
  • Knowledge of service authentication and authorization through OAuth 2 and experience with Kong API Gateway.
  • Solid understanding of Agile testing disciplines, including TDD, and strong Agile/Scrum development experience.
  • Up-to-date expertise in current tools and technologies.
  • Accountability for engineering-process control and compliance; promotion of innovation and adoption of specialist technologies and practices; coaching and mentoring of engineers.
  • Ability to work with business stakeholders and translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ability to provide innovative solutions to complex business problems and learn new technologies and business domains.
