About the role

As a Solution Architect for Microsoft 365 – SharePoint Online, you will define and drive the strategic direction of Enterprise Content Management within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. Your focus will be on architectural decisions, designing scalable and secure SharePoint Online solutions, and guiding engineering and business teams on how to leverage Microsoft 365 capabilities effectively.

How you will get the job done

  • Define the strategic vision for collaboration architecture, including content lifecycle, permission management, and retention policies.
  • Lead the design and governance of SharePoint Online solutions, ensuring scalability, security, compliance (e.g. VAIT), and cost efficiency.
  • Scout and evaluate new SharePoint Online features (e.g. SPFx, PnP PowerShell, Microsoft Syntex), match them to business needs, and advise engineering and development teams on adoption.
  • Integrate models between SharePoint Online and other Microsoft 365 services such as Teams and OneDrive for Business; define collaboration patterns.
  • Establish architectural standards and best practices for SharePoint Online, including permission management, content lifecycle automation, and retention frameworks.
  • Monitor and audit coverage across SharePoint Online sites, including access reviews, entitlement confirmations, and lifecycle triggers.
  • Coach engineering and business teams on SharePoint Online architecture, provisioning, and governance; support troubleshooting and optimization of configurations.
  • Resolve complex technical issues, request feature enhancements, and ensure optimal licensing and setup.
  • Answer technical questions from product teams and negotiate architectural decisions during project planning and procurement.

Skills and experience you will need

  • Fluency in English.
  • Deep expertise in SharePoint Online architecture, governance, and integration.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 services including Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Purview.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art frameworks: PnP PowerShell, SPFx, and Fluent UI.
  • Familiarity with Azure services, including Azure Automation, Azure Functions, and Blob Storage.
  • Experience designing permission management, retention policies, and content lifecycle processes.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, telemetry, and compliance frameworks.
  • Strategic thinking and vision-setting for Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor engineers and business stakeholders.
  • Experience negotiating with Microsoft and external service providers.
