Quick Facts

Staff Backend Graph Engineer — build and lead the identity graph platform that links billions of signals in real time for fraud prevention and identity trust.

Description

Own end-to-end technical direction for the platform behind real-time identity decisions. You will lead entity resolution at scale, design batch and real-time pipelines, build low-latency APIs, and ship production systems that power fraud intelligence and graph-based ML inference.

Responsibilities

  • Define graph schemas, relationships, and ontology for consistent, extensible identity data
  • Own entity resolution across messy, sparse, and adversarial data sources
  • Design batch and real-time pipelines and low-latency serving systems for heavy load
  • Ship production systems behind ML features, model inference, and graph analytics
  • Improve performance, reliability, and cost with measurable results
  • Lead architecture decisions, document tradeoffs, and drive rollouts to production
  • Mentor engineers and set standards for design reviews, testing, CI/CD, and operations
  • Build privacy, security, and PII protection into every system from day one

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years building and running distributed systems in the cloud; at least 2 years at Staff or Senior Staff scope (or equivalent)
  • Quantifiable production impact (latency, reliability, or cost)
  • Deep Spark, Kafka, or Flink experience in both batch and streaming, including production debugging
  • Experience building and tuning low-latency APIs where milliseconds matter
  • Graph or entity-resolution experience (connected data modeling and record matching across noisy sources)
  • AWS and operations fluency: Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and production observability
  • ML data pipeline experience (Databricks, SageMaker, or similar) and orchestration with Airflow or equivalent
  • Technical leadership: led ambiguous cross-team work and mentored engineers through influence and design docs
