Description

You will build and operate backend services that determine whether a user can play content in a given context, what features are available, and what restrictions apply. This role focuses on resilience and operability of core access systems, including consolidating gating logic and moving decisions to a shared, configurable model. You will collaborate across teams while contributing to design discussions, code reviews, and technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate high-availability, low-latency backend services for access decisions.
• Deliver features and improvements on the team roadmap with engineers and the engineering manager.
• Improve resilience and operability of core access systems, including caching, invalidation, and incident readiness.
• Contribute to design discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
• Work with partner teams across catalog, playback, client, and trust & safety to land changes safely.
• Keep documentation current and share context so knowledge stays with the team.

Requirements

• Solid experience building and operating backend services and production APIs at scale.
• Proficiency in a backend language such as Java, Scala, Go, or similar.
• Strong API design skills, including schema evolution and backward compatibility.
• Experience modeling data for auditability, versioning, and efficient querying.
• Working knowledge of data pipelines and tradeoffs between real-time and batch processing.
• Ability to ramp up in unfamiliar codebases and contribute meaningfully.
• Experience in regulated/compliance-sensitive environments, or strong interest in developing that experience.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort with ambiguity and identifying high-impact work.
