Description

The Cloud Team builds and operates Remitly’s AWS cloud foundation, including the networking fabric and infrastructure tooling used by all product teams. In this hands-on senior role, you will own deep parts of the cloud and networking stack, write and review production Go code for automation and internal tooling, and contribute to architecture, reliability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve edge infrastructure (CloudFront distributions, AWS Shield, WAF, CDN failover strategies, latency-optimized routing)

• Design, build, and maintain mostly-Go services and CLI tooling to automate, observe, and extend the cloud platform (with design docs, code review, testing, and production ownership)

• Monitor and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure costs continuously

• Lead architecture decisions on cloud topology, multi-account governance, cross-region connectivity, and platform abstractions

• Partner with SRE, Security, and Platform teams to embed observability, compliance, and operational excellence

• Troubleshoot complex network issues across distributed cloud environments using TCP/IP and traffic-flow analysis

• Design and operate global partner/bank connectivity (VPNs with IPSec/IKEv2, Direct Connect, BGP routing) across multi-account, multi-region topology

• Participate in a weekly on-call rotation (5-person rotation); occasional late syncs with Seattle

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software, cloud, or infrastructure engineering with significant hands-on AWS depth

• Proficiency building production distributed systems using Go, Python, or similar (services, not scripts)

• Knowledge of cloud networking: VPC design/subnetting, routing, Transit Gateway, DNS, load balancing

• Edge infrastructure experience: CloudFront, AWS Shield, WAF, CDN failover

• Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform preferred)

• Cost optimization experience: AWS billing, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, right-sizing

• Understanding of multi-account governance and organizational tooling; Kubernetes/EKS is a plus
