Description

Serve as the DHA Local Area Network (LAN) Engineering and Sustainment Section Chief, responsible for LAN engineering, automation, and sustainment supporting DHA and its service communities. Develop and execute agency-level strategies and policies to provide LAN connectivity for DHA customers, analyze user access and network performance, and ensure compliance with required DoD/DISA/MHS/DHA information assurance standards. Provide counsel to employees and support DHA HIT services with reports, documentation, and briefings.

Responsibilities

• Lead LAN engineering and sustainment activities for DHA
• Develop, manage, and execute LAN strategies, programs, and policies
• Analyze LAN user access via added nodes and reconfiguration of existing nodes
• Assess network performance for hardware/software utilization
• Set short-term priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work
• Provide employee advice, counsel, and instruction on work and administrative matters
• Ensure LAN infrastructure complies with DoD, DISA, MHS, and DHA information assurance standards and reporting requirements
• Collaborate with directorates and federal medical communities to implement operation and sustainment plans for new DHA services by NETMOD
• Develop reports, documentation, and briefings for DHA leadership
• Serve as Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) or Alternate COR for designated IT contracts

Requirements

• US citizenship
• Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility for a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment (background investigation and credit check required)
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12, including network performance assessments, technical advisement on communication systems, and planning work
• Demonstrated experience in attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving
• Ability to complete probationary periods (one year trial/probationary period; supervisory probationary period may be required)
• Willingness to work overtime and outside normal duty hours (evenings, weekends, and/or holidays)
• Willingness and ability to travel on TDY/business travel as required
• Education cannot substitute for the required experience
• Ability to support mission operations during emergencies (mission essential)
• Direct deposit of pay required
