Description

DHS is recruiting for a Secure Network Operations talent pool to support ongoing technical needs within the DHS Cybersecurity Service. The work focuses on securing and operating network and security controls—through guidance development, network scanning and troubleshooting, infrastructure installation/maintenance, continuous monitoring, and testing control effectiveness. Roles may span multiple DHS components and mission programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement security best practices, guidance, and documentation to meet DHS/Component information system and network policy requirements
• Scan networks to diagnose connectivity issues and address network vulnerabilities
• Install and maintain network infrastructure device software, firmware, and operating systems (Windows, Linux, IOS, firmware)
• Support implementation of DHS HQ/Component information security programs, policies, procedures, and tools
• Assess effectiveness of security controls via testing and maintaining network infrastructures (hardware and software)
• Monitor network and related operating systems/applications for capacity and performance
• Coordinate with system and network administrators on network and telecom operations, administration, maintenance, and peripherals
• Assess and optimize configuration of network hubs, routers, and switches (e.g., higher-level protocols, tunneling) according to departmental policies and best practices
• Develop and test new design procedures and quality standards to integrate new systems
• Provide stakeholder feedback on network requirements, including security requirements to minimize user risk
