Description

Own and evolve architecture spanning business units—define domain boundaries, place cross-cutting concerns correctly, and keep product logic, policy, and funds flow in the right layers. Lead design and architecture reviews, drive decomposition/unification roadmaps for shared systems, and prevent accumulated complexity through thoughtful deprecation and ownership. Use AI tools daily for design exploration, code analysis, and review, establishing guardrailed patterns for responsible AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities

• Define domain boundaries and service contracts across business units

• Lead architecture reviews and record decisions in durable architecture decision records

• Drive unification and decomposition of shared systems (including user state splitting) for incremental adoption

• Prevent accumulated complexity via deprecation, experiment cleanup, and clear ownership

• Partner with Platform and Money Platform engineering leads to ensure standards are practical and not duplicated

• Use AI tools daily and build AI agents, skills, and documentation to make architecture legible to engineers and AI coding agents

• Set the bar for responsible AI-assisted development with guardrails and review practices

• Mentor Staff and Senior engineers through design reviews, code guidance, and architecture mentorship

• Contribute to hiring and onboarding; represent engineering in technical discussions with product, risk, and leadership
