Description

Design, develop, and maintain user-facing systems and internal tools that help customers access, transact on, and manage positions on an online platform. Build and scale backend services and APIs for growth and engagement, including end-to-end notification and lifecycle engagement systems. Create data-driven personalization and experimentation capabilities, integrate APIs for web/mobile clients, and operate reliable event-driven workflows at high volume.

Responsibilities

• Build, scale, and maintain backend services and APIs under production performance and reliability requirements
• Own and operate notification and lifecycle engagement systems end-to-end
• Design and operate data-driven personalization/targeting/ranking systems for acquisition, activation, and retention
• Design and implement service APIs for web and mobile clients (authentication/authorization, versioning, backward-compatible integrations)
• Build event-driven backend workflows using message queues or streaming platforms for high-volume asynchronous work
• Support growth experimentation using feature flags, A/B tests, and instrumentation to measure engagement outcomes
• Collaborate with product management and frontend/mobile engineers from concept through production release (rollout, monitoring, iteration)
• Translate ambiguous product/business needs into technical specifications, system designs, and implementation plans
• Model, store, and query data using relational and/or NoSQL datastores; focus on schema design and query optimization
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems for latency, throughput, correctness, and operational health (logging, metrics, alerting)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field
• 5+ years of progressively more responsible software development experience
• Production software development using Go (Golang), JavaScript, and Python; writing efficient, maintainable, well-tested code
• Experience designing, developing, and documenting REST and/or RPC service APIs (endpoint design, authentication/authorization, versioning, integrations)
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB; schema design, data modeling, and query optimization for high-volume applications
• Experience building, scaling, and operating high-performance backend services and distributed systems for reliability and high request volumes
• Ability to translate ambiguous or evolving requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans
• Experience implementing and supporting feature flags and A/B testing/experimentation frameworks to drive growth or engagement metrics
