Description

As a Senior Backend Engineer on Growth, you will own end-to-end delivery of backend services and APIs that power Robinhood Gold experiences and growth journeys. You’ll lead high-leverage, ambiguous initiatives, improve reliability, performance, observability, and developer velocity, and help shape the architecture supporting subscription experiences and engagement flows. You’ll partner closely with product, design, data, and peer engineering teams to translate customer and business goals into scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve backend services and APIs
• Own projects end to end (technical design through launch, measurement, and iteration)
• Collaborate cross-functionally to turn ambiguous opportunities into scalable systems
• Improve service reliability, performance, observability, and developer velocity
• Help shape architecture and technical direction for subscription and engagement systems
• Make thoughtful tradeoffs using metrics and engineering judgment
• Mentor engineers via design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on debugging
• Raise the engineering bar for system design, execution, and operational excellence

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with production backend systems
• Strong experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and data models for reliability and scale
• Experience leading medium-to-large technical projects with multiple stakeholders and clear business impact
• Ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-moving product environments and plan pragmatically
• Strong product sense and engagement with customer experience, experimentation, and business outcomes
• High ownership mindset driving work from concept to production
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional partners
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
