Description

Provides back-office and patient-related clinical and clerical support to providers and the patient care team to help deliver high-quality patient care. Assists with smooth departmental workflow and supports implementation of the medical plan of care under clinician direction. Integrates clinical competence and patient interaction skills to promote patient cooperation and confidence.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical and clerical support tasks for the care team under the direction of a clinician

• Prepare patients for exam and support the medical plan of care

• Take vital signs, administer injections, and support basic medical procedures

• Communicate clearly and professionally, including when explaining sensitive information

• Interpret data and instructions from written, oral, diagram, or scheduled formats

• Prioritize assignments, work independently or as part of a team, and follow standardized operating procedures

• Use computer applications and EHR systems for required documentation

• Cross-trained coverage for Plastic Surgery locations as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program (diploma within 90 days)

• Completed Medical Assistant externship (160 hours; verified via the MA school website)

• BLS Healthcare Provider certification

• 1 year of recent relevant experience
