Description

Provides clinical and clerical support to providers and the patient care team by performing back-office and patient-related tasks to support high-quality patient care. Assists with patient workflow and supports implementation of the medical plan of care under clinician direction, with cross-training across Plastic Surgery and Breast Surgical Oncology duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform back-office and patient-related support tasks for provider visits

• Take vital signs, prepare patients for exams, and administer injections

• Interpret data and instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats

• Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families/support groups, and other providers

• Maintain organization, prioritize assignments, and follow standardized procedures

• Support computer tasks in Microsoft Office and the electronic health record (EHR)

• Provide coverage through cross-training for Plastic Surgery scheduling and PSR duties

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program; provide diploma within 90 days

• Complete Medical Assistant externship (160 hours), verified on the MA school website

• BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Provider

• 1 year of recent relevant experience

• Competency in basic Medical Assisting skills (vital signs, exam preparation, injections)
