Description

Provides clinical and clerical support to dermatology providers and the patient care team by performing back-office and patient-related tasks that support high-quality care. Helps ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department and assists the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care under clinician direction. Combines education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to promote cooperation and confidence.

Responsibilities

• Support providers and members of the patient care team with clinical and clerical duties
• Prepare patients for exams and assist with exam readiness
• Take vital signs and perform basic medical assisting tasks (including administering injections)
• Interpret data and instructions provided in multiple formats
• Communicate sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
• Manage time effectively, prioritize assignments, and follow standardized operating procedures
• Work independently and as part of a team while handling interruptions
• Identify and resolve standard problems using established options
• Use computer applications and the EHR to support care processes

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED
• Medical Assistant program graduate (diploma must be presented within 90 days)
• Medical Assistant externship completion (160 hours), verified by the MA school website
• BLS Healthcare Provider certification
• 1 year of recent relevant experience
