Description

Provides clinical and clerical support to providers and members of the patient care team(s) by performing back-office and patient-related tasks that help deliver high-quality care. Helps ensure smooth patient and department workflow and assists the team in implementing the medical plan of care, under clinician direction. The role integrates patient interaction, technical competence, and education to gain patient confidence and cooperation.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers and the patient care team with clinical and clerical duties

• Support smooth patient flow and departmental operations

• Prepare patients for exams and support delivery of the medical plan of care

• Perform medical assisting tasks under clinician direction

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED

• Completion of an approved Medical Assisting course per California Medical Board requirements (provide diploma within 90 days) OR completion of equivalent Sutter Health on-the-job training (one year)

• BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider certification

• 1 year of recent relevant experience

• Competent and validated in basic Medical Assisting skills (vital signs, preparing patients for exams, administering injections)

• Ability to interpret data and instructions from written, oral, diagram, or scheduled formats
