Description

Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) or Chief of the Specialty, the Physician provides the full scope of psychiatric services, including diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, and preventive care. The Psychiatrist collaborates with the healthcare team to support the Center’s philosophy, goals, and objectives, while complying with Center policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat, and maintain care for patients needing psychiatric services

• Provide care based on established guidelines

• Participate in PCMH activities: open access scheduling, patient care huddles/pre-visit planning, patient care plan compilation, patient education, and patient self-management goals

• Work with CMO, Chief of the Specialty, COO, and CEO on non-medical duties; follow personnel policies

• Supervise related behavioral/health staff, including administrative employees

• Gain and maintain privileges at local hospitals, if applicable

• Admit or arrange admission for patients needing hospitalization

• Be willing to work on a periodic on-call basis, if applicable

• Provide other related duties as requested by the CMO and Chief of the Specialty

Additional Responsibilities

• Supervise mid-level practitioners (nurse practitioner or physician assistant) for routine psychiatric care; consult and/or accept referrals for complex cases

• Be available by telephone in emergencies when not physically available on-site

• Participate in education of students rotating within the Center

Requirements

• MD/DO in Psychiatry
