Description

You will build, customize, and deploy applications within Benchling to translate scientific and research needs into reliable, well-engineered software. Responsibilities include configuring core Benchling modules for sample tracking and lab workflows, implementing integrations through RESTful APIs, and maintaining high software quality through testing and code reviews. The role also requires compliance with regulatory standards (GxP, FDA, HIPAA) and data integrity across the software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Develop, customize, and deploy applications within Benchling using the Python SDK and REST APIs
• Configure Benchling standard modules (Inventory, Registry, Workflows) for sample tracking and laboratory processes
• Design and implement integrations between Benchling and other systems using RESTful APIs and integration frameworks
• Write clean, maintainable code and perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Participate in code reviews and provide documentation for technical processes and solutions
• Translate scientific requirements into clear technical specifications with scientists and stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with GxP, FDA, and HIPAA while maintaining data integrity throughout the software lifecycle
• Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, scientific concepts, and regulatory changes

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of software development experience, preferably in pharmaceutical or biotech
• Strong proficiency in Python for application development
• Deep understanding of the Benchling platform, including Apps development, configuration, data model, and automation
• Strong grasp of RESTful APIs, data transformation, and integration patterns
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases/data modeling
• Knowledge of clean code, modular design, Git, and CI/CD practices
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Upper-Intermediate English (B2)
