Description

Senior Python Developer role focused on building and integrating applications on the Benchling platform to support laboratory operations. You will partner with scientific teams to turn research needs into reliable software, including REST API integrations, testing, and documentation. You must maintain compliance with regulations such as GxP, FDA, and HIPAA while ensuring data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Develop, customize, and deploy Benchling applications using the Python SDK and REST APIs
• Configure Benchling standard modules (Inventory, Registry, Workflows) for sample tracking and lab processes
• Build integrations between Benchling and other systems using RESTful APIs and integration frameworks
• Write clean, maintainable code and perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Participate in code reviews and document technical processes and solutions
• Translate scientific requirements into clear technical specifications
• Ensure compliance with GxP, FDA, and HIPAA and maintain data integrity across the software lifecycle
• Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, scientific concepts, and regulatory changes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of software development experience (preferably pharma/biotech)
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Deep understanding of the Benchling platform (Apps development, configuration, data model, automation)
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, data transformation, and integration patterns
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases/data modeling
• Clean code, modular design, Git, and CI/CD practices
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• English proficiency at B2 level

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with the Benchling platform
• Familiarity with JavaScript, Java, or C#
