Description

We are seeking a Senior Python Developer to build and deploy laboratory-supporting solutions at the intersection of science and technology. You will partner with scientific teams to translate complex research needs into reliable, well-engineered software on the Benchling platform. The role focuses on application development, configuration, integrations, and ensuring compliance and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Develop, customize, and deploy applications within the Benchling platform using the Python SDK and REST APIs
• Configure Benchling standard modules (Inventory, Registry, Workflows) to support sample tracking and laboratory processes
• Design and implement integrations between Benchling and other systems using RESTful APIs and integration frameworks
• Write clean, maintainable code and perform thorough testing (unit, integration, end-to-end) to ensure software quality
• Participate in code reviews and provide documentation for technical processes and solutions
• Collaborate with scientists and stakeholders to translate scientific requirements into technical specifications
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (GxP, FDA, HIPAA) and maintain data integrity throughout the software lifecycle
• Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, scientific concepts, and regulatory changes

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of software development experience, preferably within pharmaceutical or biotech
• Strong proficiency in Python for application development
• Deep understanding of the Benchling platform, including Apps development, configuration, data model, and automation capabilities
• Strong grasp of RESTful APIs, data transformation, and integration patterns
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases/data modeling
• Knowledge of clean code principles, modular design, version control with Git, and CI/CD practices
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Upper-Intermediate English language competency (B2)

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with the Benchling platform
• Familiarity with JavaScript, Java, or C#
